Here are answers to frequently asked questions... When does the season start? End?CVYBA starts the season with evaluations in Oct, practices in Nov, games Dec/Jan/Feb, and award ceremony late Feb.How many practices and games are there each week?Your player will usually participate in 2 events each week: · in Nov, 2 practices each week;· from Dec thru Feb, 1 practice during the week, 1 game on the weekend (Fri, Sat).Where are practices and games?Practices and games are in CV school gyms. We use all CV schools except for Hampden and Monroe Elementary. We rotate teams in gyms so that everyone gets a fair amount of time in the better gyms.What does my registration fee get me?Registration gets you a uniform (shirt, shorts for elementary aged kids), 10 games, and a bunch of practices; referees; gym time; awards for players 6th grade and below. Is there a tryout?CVYBA has an evaluation session for kids 2nd thru 8th grade to make up even teams. There are travel teams for boys 5th and 6th grades, and girls 5th thru 8th grades. All registered kids make teams.When are the 1st Grade Clinics?The first graders are randomly broken into two groups (A, B). Each group meets twice in January. Group A is from 12n to 1p both dates. Group B is from 1:30 to 2:30p both dates. Pictures for 1st graders if desired are on the second Saturday. All sessions are at Sporting Hill ES.How much playing time will my child get?CVYBA's Rec program has a mandatory 50% playing time: all players must play half the game.My child has never played basketball. Will they be ok?Yes, teams are split up evenly so that every team has an even mix of players experienced and inexperienced.Do you keep score? League standings?Grades 6 and above keep score. No league standings are kept. |
