| Travel Team & Advanced Basketball Opportunities |

|
CVYBA encourages and supports all levels of play of basketball. Since CVYBA is parent-driven, advanced opportunities are almost always bound by the time commitment of parents/coaches.
CVYBA Travel TeamsCVYBA allots time for a ‘travel team’ in grades 5 through 8 for both boys and girls. Like all other CVYBA teams, these teams get one practice and one game each week. The difference is that these teams play teams from other locations (e.g. Camp Hill, Mechanicsburg, etc). Travel teams are selected during the evaluation process. If you child is interested in playing on a travel team, you should contact the respective coach of your child’s travel team to find out more information. Click here for Travel Team coaches/contacts Travel team players must purchase their travel jersey, and must also pay for any additional tournaments or games they play in beyond what is allotted by CVYBA. Travel team coaches often find additional time for practice outside of CVSD facilities. You should check with your coach on the practice time commitment level prior to committing to a team. Travel teams generally allot 50% playing time across the season rather than each game, which means that your player may play most of some games and little to none of others. You should check with your coach on what their playing time policy is prior to committing to a team. CVYBA Tournament & Summer TeamsIn addition to the travel teams, CVYBA encourages parents and coaches in grades 3 through 8 to assemble ‘tournament teams’. There are many tournaments at the end of the basketball season, as well as summer leagues. A team that gets CVYBA approval plays in those tournaments/leagues with CVYBA’s insurance coverage. To assemble a tournament team, contact your age level coordinator or a CVYBA board member to find out the details. CVYBA TournamentsCVYBA sponsors tournaments each year. This year there will be a local girls tournament, a regional AAU girls tournament, and a local boys tournament. Contact George Behr to find our more tournament information. Middle School Teams'School Ball' starts in 7th grade in the CV School District. There are both boys and girls teams in 7th and 8th grades at both Eagle View MS and Good Hope MS. CVYBA tries to work closely with CVSD so the programs complement each other. Click here for a note about Boys 7th & 8th Grade Travel (2007-2008) CVYBA encourages travel teams to play year round. CVYBA registration deadlines are intentionally set after school teams are picked so that players who do not make the school team can join CVYBA, and players that make the school team can withdrawal from CVYBA. “I want my child to be a great basketball player”CVYBA often gets asked by parents how their child can make the most of the basketball skills. Things you can do to help: While politics is a part of any organization, CVYBA strives to minimize politics and maximize great basketball. Questions and feedback in this area are welcome. If you have any questions, please contact the President of CVYBA. |
