For coordinators and coaches, here's the typical CVYBA evaluation process:
Equipment and Materials Needed- Player rosters (from Registrar), includes each registered player plus their number for evals
- Balls (8 from equipment manager)
- Pens (for signins, for coaches to fill out forms)
- Blank Registration Forms (for people who show up but aren't registered). Don't collect money for registration, simply direct them to complete and send in to registrar.
- Table (usually found at school; for signins)
- Whistle
Agenda- 30 minutes prior: Coordinator setup (table, numbers, coaching eval sheets, balls)
- 15 minutes prior: Players begin arriving, collect Fundraisers
- Minutes 0 to 5: Intro by Coordinator (travel coach if any); includes who to contact, how next few weeks work
- Minutes 6 through 20: Stations
- Minutes 21 through 35: Stations
- Minutes 36 through 50: Stations
- Minutes 51 through 65: Stations
- Close: Something Fun (e.g. Steal the bacon)
Evaluation StationsStation selection depends on age levels. - Ring of Fire (passing, hand/eye coordination): Player in middle with a ball; one player outside with a ball; remaining players in circle around middle player. Middle throws to person to right of outside player with a ball; outside players throws to middle. Continue in circle once bounce, once chest.
- Layups (dribbling, shooting). Full cross court layup; right & left.
- 3 v 3 (hustle, speed, experience): sort by height, assign numbers to divide into teams of 3; play for 2 minutes (one team stays one, another comes in)
- Tall. Players should be marked if they are tall.
