This week begins our Recreational League practices. We will be holding “open gyms” for the next two weeks for boys and girls teams, from 2nd grade to 12th grade. These evaluations are meant to grade player’s abilities so that we may form even teams for league play which will begin in December after several practices.

The 1st Grade program for both boys and girls will start with “open gyms” on Saturday, December 16th and again on Saturday, December 23rd. Both sessions will be on Saturday mornings, from 9 am to noon, girls for the first hour and boys for the next two hours. Prior to these dates, you will be notified the exact time for boys, based on last names. You should expect the first Saturday will be last names for boys, 10 am to 11 am, starting with the letters “A” to “M” and the second hour, 11 am to noon, last names beginning with the letters, “N” to “Z”. The second Saturday, December 23rd, that will switch and the last half of the alphabet will be from 10 am to 11 am and the beginning of the alphabet will be from 11 am to noon. All girls will be from 9 am to 10 am on both Saturdays.

The purpose of “open gyms” is to assess all players and rate them so that even teams can be formed for games starting in January, the first Saturday after the New Year. When we begin the games, we will use the first 20 minutes of their hour, as “practice” and then the rest of the hour we will play games. One coach from each team will be on the court to act as both coach and referee. No score will be kept, as we want to emphasize teaching and development, fair play and equal play. We need help so if you can volunteer, I would encourage you to go to our web site, CVYBA.org, and under “Volunteers”, get the proper clearances, and help. The only time commitment is one hour on a Saturday morning, games will go through the first weekend of March. There are no mid week practices for 1st graders, this is why your registration fee is less than the other older players.

Finally, if you ordered a jersey from CVYBA, I will have them at the first two “open gyms”. Please be a few minutes early, because I will start on time and end on time for each session. All sessions should be at the same site, as soon as I know that for sure, I will let you know.

All of your names should be entered on Team Snap, so look for information there or our web site. Any questions or comments, email me directly at puppytrainer52@aol.com, or call me at 717-389-5100, you can leave a message on the number.

See you on the court,

Best Wishes.
